Project Rising Tide
Project Rising Tide is an initiative envisioned by Governor Snyder and implemented by the Department of Talent and Economic Development (TED team) with the mission of supplying at-risk communities with the tools they need to design and build a successful economic framework. Project Rising Tide supports vibrant, thriving communities to attract business investment and talent by creating a sustainable path toward economic stability and growth.The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Talent Investment Agency, and Michigan State Housing Development Authority have committed their assets to engage specific communities across the state in order to empower them to shape their future and maximize economic potential.
The main goals that the TED Team hopes to achieve are to create a cohesive community vision, coordinate stakeholder activities, strengthen community brand, coordinated marketing activities, place making implementation, downtown development, economic development strategy, bringing broadband to the region, and updating the village website based of the TED team's website review.
As stated in another news story, "Government Officials Visit Newberry", Newberry is the only community selected in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and one of ten for the entire state. This program has focused their energies on Newberry, MI and our surrounding region. The efforts of many talented people both from the State and local Village team members are making great strides and have already made many successful improvements.
